PRESS RELEASE: Eni Norge offers for the first time apprenticeships. The positions will provide the necessary competence and certificate of apprenticeship to work on Goliat, Norway's first oil field in the Barents Sea. The field is expected to come on stream autumn 2013.
Eni Norge and Statoil have joined forces. Eni Norge is responsible for the apprentices who get their training on Statoil's building sites or plants.
The students currently in their second grade VG2 chemistry process can now apply for six vacant apprenticeships. They will then after 24 months as apprentices and approved certificate be qualified to apply for work on Goliat.
Goliat is the first oil field development in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea. When the field starts production towards the end of 2013, a new chapter of the Norwegian petroleum history has commenced. The apprenticeship programme gives the youngsters from the northern part of Norway the possibility to join the project right from the beginning.
Operator of the Goliat field is Eni Norway AS (65%) together with partner Statoil Petroleum AS (35%). The development of Goliat will be the first development of an oil field in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea.
Eni Norge is part of Eni, the Italian major integrated energy company with activities in more than 70 countries.
