Eni Norge intends to make every effort continuously to improve the company’s practice as regards health, safety and the environment (HSE). A healthy working environment and sound HSE procedures are vital if we are to achieve these aims.
Eni Norge’s objective is to carry out our operations without personal injury or damage to the environment.
We prevent unwanted incidents by selecting technical systems with good in-built safety characteristics and by developing adequate barriers which prevent hazards from developing into accidents. We shall also have a robust contingency strategy which will allow us to deal effectively with emergency situations. For example, we shall establish robust and efficient contingency measures to combat oil spills, suitably adapted to local circumstances.
These aims are incorporated in the company’s governance system as follows:
- To establish HSE-related goals, strategies and plans of action, and to ensure that HSE-related activities are integrated in the company’s projects.
- To ensure that HSE-related tasks are assigned priority at all levels within the company
- To ensure the influence and participation of employees in decision-making processes related to our HSE activities by means of participation in the Working Environment Committee. The company also encourages each employee to put forward suggestions as to what can be done to improve his or her working environment
- To ensure that unwanted incidents or actions are reported in order to avoid repetition
- To carry out regular HSE audits with the aim of maintaining our technical integrity and in order to improve our work processes
- To ensure that contracts contain documented HSE requirements
- To deploy a robust and well-trained contingency organisation
Working environment
To promote a good working environment and a good safety culture is a major objective for the company and is therefore an integral part of Eni Norge's total management system. This iscertified in accordance with ISO 14001. In addition to the required working environment and the system of safety representatives, the company has an occupational health that emphasizes prevention.
Sick leave
In 2009, the sick leave of Eni Norway is 2.3 percent. The goal for 2010 was to maintain a low absenteeism. The result was a further improvement and ended up at 1.9 percent.
